10 Months

Another month has come and gone already.  It's almost time to start thinking about the big 01 birthday bash! Well, really we've been thinking about it already, but the actual planning will be underway soon enough.
Standing tall, checking out the kitchen!
We've not been posting as much as we'd hoped. These last few weeks have been filled with us trying to figure out how to buy a house. We had put an offer in on one, it was accepted, and are now trying to wade through paperwork and over obstacles. If everything goes as we hope, we will have a first birthday and housewarming party at the same time. But we're not counting on that, yet.

Aurora officially had/has (she's still getting over it) her first cold. Brandon and Aurora had the cold first, and after a day or two of being used as a human tissue, Jes also fell victim. I think this whole thing was probably harder on us than her. Aurora had a couple nights where she couldn't sleep because her nose wouldn't stop running. Now it's a little better but a cough or stuffy nose also inhibits her regular sleeping. All of this make it hard for mom and dad to sleep, of course. We're experiencing in another way the phrase "when baby isn't happy, nobody is happy!". Happily, we are all on the mend now.

[10 month mugshot will be coming a little later this month due to wanting a non-sick baby for the photo. Stay tuned!}

The other weekend, Jes's parents came to visit. We did some shopping and played some cards. In general, we had a great time.

This weekend coming up is Easter and Brandon's parents are coming to visit. It will be a fun time with eggs, chocolate (not for her), and delicious food cooked by Brandon. We are all looking forward to it.

Trying on the bunny ears from Aunt Viv and Uncle Bruce.
This was a difficult shot since putting things on her head is a favorite game.

Happy Easter!

Aurora is a lucky little girl to be able to spend quality time with both sets of grandparents, especially since they are not around the corner, so they take the time and effort to come and visit. Even from those Aunts and Uncles who aren't able to visit like Grandma and Grandpa, it is obvious she is quite loved. Just know all of us love you back, just as much <3

March Madness

This is a different kind of March Madness... this is the sock monster!!

Can you tell we're going a little stir crazy? C'mon Spring, we're ready to go outside! We are starting to run out of ideas... :)

Growing strong!

Aurora is growing by leaps and bounds. Its getting difficult to remember what new thing she is doing that we haven't told you about. She is a lot more interactive, and also trying to mimic our sounds. For example, if we sing the first few letters of the ABC's, she repeats the tone and sylabales in her choice of sounds "da-da da-da!". Her happy face is a scrunched up nose and quick and loud breathing/panting. She is now pretty quick and a pro at crawling, so if we turn around we have to be careful, she might be right at our feet about to crawl up our legs! Now that she is crawling, she is wanting to stand all the time too.
pulling off all her toys and pulling herself up on the toy box

She still is not too steady on her feet, but every day she is growing stronger. With practicing standing on her legs, and trying to work out with mom and dad, she will be a buff baby in no time!
dad says "beefcake!"
is this how you do it?

As always, we are having a blast. Every day is an adventure! We're sending our love to all of you!

9 Months

Hi all! With February gone, Aurora is officially 9 months old. We've certainly had our hads full since the last post, as she has perfected her crawling skills and is now pulling herself up on various objects, testing out her legs for standing. One of our favorite "games" is when one of us leaves the room (say to go to the bathroom), she likes to follow and find us. We are loving every minute of this! The dog, however, seems a bit perturbed that sitting on her chair is no longer safe, as the baby starts to pull herself up and reach for her. Actually, she can reach her if she's sitting on her knees even, so Twizzle is out of luck. :)

In other news, at her 9 month check up, she came in at 28.5 inches long, just under 20lbs, and continues to have a big noggin (46.5 cm). She's still taller than most, though she didn't have quite as big of a growth spurt as last time.

Get that thing out of my face!
Well, it's not so bad, but I'm still showing some attitude

We're not exactly sure when it happened, but there seems to be a huge difference in her ability  to listen and understand. Of course, she's not talking or fully understanding us, but she is growing so much every day. Her personality is really beginning to show. She's giggling more, and making the most hilarious faces. She can make D, T, G, sound with ease, and we are working on M and N. We're excited to see what she will be up to next!
